I've tested a bunch of versions:
2.39 works great, no issue
2.40 has different problem, black background and white pixels on the border
2.40.png

Something got broken between 2.39 and 2.40

Re: Preview Alpha Channel in XnView Classic is broken
Could it be related to Windows?
I have the latest version: Win 10 Home, ver 2004, os build 19041.508
But I've tested an older version, 2.37 just now, and it doesn't suffer from the same problem.
So I think something got broken in your code.
It was working fine just couple releases ago.

Re: Preview Alpha Channel in XnView Classic is broken
In latest version 2.49.4
Please use any image that has alpha channel, BMP, PNG, TGA, any
Then set zoom to be less than 100%, for example 50%,
Then press M key to show alpha, it won't work
Zoom in at 100%, alpha starts to work
In options I have "High Quality Zoom \ Reduce = ON"

Re: Hide File Formats While Saving
Is there any news about this?
Because this is a MAJOR inconvenience.
Also another BMP file format got added (565 bit quality). Things got even worse!
Several times accidentally I've selected it instead of the full 8-bit precision, and that resulted in loss of quality, because of which I had to ...

Startup time slow
Just tried XnView MP for the first time, it looks cool, but the main problem compared to XnView classic is startup time.
XnView classic starts instantly for me, I don't see any delay.
when I try to run XnView MP there's a 1-2 second delay until the app opens.

Re: Hide File Formats While Saving
Please add the option to hide other formats.
Because as it is right now, it's just a big inconvenience to have to scroll so much every time I want to save a file.
Thank you

Hide File Formats While Saving
When I want to save an image, and I want to choose target format, it's like 30 or so, making it very difficult to find the one that I need.
Having so many elements on the list is just an annoyance, because 90% of the file formats people will never use.
The only formats that I use are:
BMP
PNG

Saving as WEBP corrupts first pixel
If I save any image as WEBP format, then always (0,0) pixel will lose its RED color data.
For example if (0,0) pixel is RGB (20,230,255) then after save+load of WEBP file, it gets (0,230,255) RGB (RED is lost).
I'm using XnView 2.32
