Pierre,
Thanx much. Rebuild solves the problem. I was unaware of that command.
For those who want to use it you must be on the parent folder that contains the folders lacking images. The rebuild command does not appear to work if you are at the root folder and wish to rebuild all subfolders.
Glad ...

Re: Images on folders in View as Thumbnails + Labels
Pierre,
Thanx for quick reply. I must be misunderstanding you. See my 2nd paragraph in the original post, repeated below in italics. I think I am doing what you said I should, namely having an image (that is not in a subfolder) in the top folder. ??

Resolution of saved jpgs
I am trying to determine how to save jpgs with an appropriate resolution so I lose no detail, but without blowing up the file size. Attached is my Save As/Options settings for saving jpgs. I did the following experiment. I did no image cropping; I just saved the images with differing quality ...

Images on folders in View as Thumbnails + Labels
I like to use the Thumbnails + Labels view. See attached example. Two of the lower level folders have images on their covers in the attached example, but will note that the WG11 folder has no image. I believe this is because in WG11 there are folders each of which have images, but it does not have ...

Re: What is the Image -- Rotate -- Automatic deskew action?
Thank you. So it sounds like an automatic version of the rotate feature that is available on rotate menu. However it does not appear it is intended to fix a rectangle that is our of kilter as in a parallelogram?

What is the Image -- Rotate -- Automatic deskew action?
I have tried deskew in 1.3.1. I cannot tell what it does. What does this feature under Image/Rotate do?

Re: cropping image to portrait
Thank you for the discussions and especially the link to the other prior discussions on rotation. I am using 0.94 and still have the same problems of images intermittently rotating. I haven't uploaded any test images, since curiously my problem seems to only occur once, i.e., when I crop an image ...

Re: cropping image to portrait
If you are correct, that sounds like a program bug, or are you suggesting some type of user error?

Re: cropping image to portrait
I have been emailing Pierre about this one. It is quite annoying and I have reproduced it on two different Win10 computers using versions from 0.92 up to 0.94. It happens to me about 10-20% of the time. I import images from a camera, like an iPhone, in jpg format. When I crop them as I often like to ...

Re: Updating to a new version
Thank you. However, my XnView is installed here: C:\Program Files\XnViewMP so it looks like the preference files you noted are found here C:\Users\Elliott\AppData\Roaming\XnViewMP. It looks like all I needed to do was the rename to OLD, and then copy over the new XnViewMP directory. Is that correct ...

Updating to a new version
Two options for updating are provided. I downloaded the exe file as well as the zipped program folder. I already have 0.93.1 installed. What is the best way to update? The exe or the zipped folder.
