Just figured this out, you need to buy the HEVC Video Extensions for 99 cents, then the conversions work. You can also open the images after conversion with no additional software.

I installed the codec, still doesn't work...

I have XnConvert V1.82 and Windows 10, when I try to convert to HEIC there is an error and the program states 'not a picture', I'm I missing something here?
