Creating 2000 JPEG thumbnails in "Nomacs" viewer (multi-threaded, M.2 source):

8 HT P cores: 16 s
16 E cores: 25 s
8 HT P + 16 E cores: 12 s

1 P core in XnViewMP (single-threaded): 35 s
1 E core in XnViewMP (single-threaded): 55 s

Curiously JPEG thumbnail creation is not multi-threaded anymore ...

Sorry, I edited my original post right away, but seemingly I did not save it correctly. The synchronization stalled for several minutes (high CPU load, no SSD or network transfer) and then went on and finished.

I don't think that it stalls for the file listed by the popup, but suspect that it just ...

Thanks again! That's why I wrote "(anymore?)" before, as I was not sure what it was set to before and wasn't able to find a corresponding setting (missed the extra tabs). Sorry for the extra work.

No, was not set, but I also never touched that setting (or even ever navigated to that tab). Works now after enabling video thumbnails. What is the default setting?

I just started a "Synchronize Folder" operation for the catalog. It now got stuck showing this:

Rebuilding manually or deleting the folder from catalog does not fix the videos not getting thumbnails.

I will try some database maintenance to see what happens.

Thanks for the fix. Both mov and mp4 files are played in correct orientation now. But we do not get thumbnails for either (anymore?)!

I am currently (forced into) using Microsoft's Photos app for viewing HEIC images on Windows, because it is faster than XnViewMP, IrfanView and Faststone Image Viewer for Apple's image format.

As far as I can identify there are three reasons for why it is faster:

If all other software displays the correct orientation, including Windows Explorer thumbnails, wouldn't rotation via EXIF cause all others to fail? And if only XnView rotates upside down, does that not point to an issue with XnView rather than EXIF data?

Thanks for the hint, but that would be unnecessarily much work for so many files, since the problem is not in the files, but in the display of them.

All other software I tried displays the same portrait video files with correct rotation (except Irfanview, which keeps them landscape). So the EXIF ...
