In XnView MP 1.8.8 64-bit running on Windows 10, it appears the issue of companion files not being hidden when the filename contains a dot has been addressed.
While testing, I did also go ahead and check the linked companion file issue linked in an preceding post, but it appears that remains ...

Also related to issues with linked companion / sidecar files, I have been able to reproduce the following on 64-bit version 1.7.2.

I am able to reproduce this issue in 64-bit version 1.7.2 running on Windows 10.

There is a similar bug report also related to sidecar / linked companion files not being acted on. While these might not be the exact same issue, they both relate to sidecar / linked companion files essentially becoming detached and left behind.

There is a similar bug report also related to sidecar / linked companion files not being acted on. While these might not be the exact same issue, they both relate to sidecar / linked companion files essentially becoming detached and left behind.
