I think the issue is that the "recalculated Thumbnail" in EXIF does have wrong thumbnail width/height... and this is NOT properly recalculated.
Would it be possible to also add a "correction" of EXIF thumbnail resolution within the thumbnail binary? OR remove it completely, also fine?
Thanks!

Re: [Bug in XnConvert] XnConvert - Rotate based on EXIF orientation
Hi Pierre,
I’m following up on my earlier report in this thread.
Thanks again for looking into it and for fixing the previous bug.
I’ve now recompressed one of the original Galaxy S23 JPEGs with XnConvert (Windows), using JPEGLi as shown previously as output and “Rotate based on EXIF” afterwards ...

Re: [Bug in XnConvert] XnConvert - Rotate based on EXIF orientation
Hi Pierre,
it seems to work in XnViewmp -> Convert
Do you also plan to release a new standalone XnConvert version? I have the latest installed but it still shows as Version from April '25 without this fix included.
Would be very welcome, Thanks

Re: [Bug in XnConvert] XnConvert - Rotate based on EXIF orientation
The standaone version of XNConvert will only be released in future, right?
Because I just checked for an update, but it seems there is no update as of now.
Still on XnConvert Version 1.105.0 - windows x64 (Apr 16 2025) - Libformat version 7.221

Re: [Bug in XnConvert] XnConvert - Rotate based on EXIF orientation
Ahh, I saw this is mentioned as Fix for XnViewMP.
In XnViewMP at least I have a "workaround" because as mentioned in the first post, when using the separate "“Rotate based on EXIF orientation field” and afterwards “Rebuild EXIF thumbnails” functions it works as expected already.

Did you use "JPG - JPGli"?
I tried it again, with my actions deactivated, and the following settings (for JPGLi):

Re: [Bug in XnConvert] XnConvert - Rotate based on EXIF orientation
Hey
did you find time to replicate the mentioned scenario!?
I mean as a workaround I could use XnView MP in the meantime, but I find XnConvert for my workflow very convenient

Re: XnConvert - Rotate based on EXIF orientation
Thank you for your help - I ran some tests and I can't seem to properly understand the combination of different checkboxes - it seems buggy to me overall.

Hi Pierre,
what do you think?
Could this slightly be changed to ignore selected video-files for this button / operation to be started!?
Thanks

Re: PNG compression - room to improve?
oxipng is great, would be a lovely addition to a near perfect image handling tool (XnView that is
).
PNGs are sometimes a pain in the a** - so great to still see development in the encoder space
