Thanks Michel,
That worked. I got a list with all the pictures with those numbers. Mostly it is the date, so it works fine.
It would be great if I could take the list to a browser so I could see the pictures that met the search. But I suppose that may be asking too much. :)
EDIT: Sorry, I've ...

Re: Photos of same day, different year
With the search dialog, I can find pictures for one day, in one year. But not all the pictures for one day for multiple years.
Of course, it is possible to go one by one, but it makes thing a little cumbersome.
Thanks anyway.

Photos of same day, different year
Hi,
I don't know if this is possible on XnView.
I have an archive of photos of the last 20 years or so. I want to select all the photos taken on a particular day of every year, say, May 8th every year from 2004 to 2023. Is this possible?
If not within XnView, can it be done in some other way or ...

Re: edit IPTC... edit XMP... greyed out for some folders
Thanks again for everything.
I opened a clean version of XnView in another PC, opened the pictures in the hard disk, and, mostly, I get the categories right. But in many cases the tree is not properly recreated. Sometimes the categories are just written in the root.

Re: edit IPTC... edit XMP... greyed out for some folders
Thanks a lot for your help.
For some reason, the systems was not identifying the pictures as jpg although in the properties tab it did say JPG file. For this reason I was able to sort the pictures by type, and those that were not identified as jpg were grouped together so I could easily identify ...

Re: edit IPTC... edit XMP... greyed out for some folders
do you have tried to use 'View>Update catalog from files' on these files?
What I have tried is to "Update files from catalog". This solves the issue but I was trying to get a little deeper. Why is this happening? Is there a setup option that may be wrong somewhere?
What I did was delete all ...

Re: edit IPTC... edit XMP... greyed out for some folders
In your first screenshot, all jpg photos have the right "format color " for jpg's , Light yellow. (see Settings > File list > Format Color)
but in the 2nd screenshot , only a few of them have this correct color, corresponding to jpg
... it means that probably the other photos, without color format ...

Re: edit IPTC... edit XMP... greyed out for some folders
I have been looking around, and, I have seen that all pictures from September 2017 onwards have this issue, pictures before that are OK, it may have had to do with a version update or similar.

Re: Update files from catalog and vice versa
I know this is an old post, but still, I need a little clarification.
What happens if I use Update files from Catalog to all my pictures? Will I get duplicated date either on the file or on the catalog? Will it do nothing to the files that are Ok in the catalog?
I guess I just want to know what ...

edit IPTC... edit XMP... greyed out for some folders
HI, I have been looking around and have found some similar issues, but no solution or the cases are, actually, different.
I use XnView MP to sort and maintain my photos. For sometime now. It is a very convenient tool as I use indistinctly windows or linux based computers, so I can move from one to ...
