It is potentially due to the Wayland display server with fractional scaling 150% to 3840x2160 pixels and an external AMD graphics card.
In X11 without fractional scaling to 2560x1440 pixels it works.
I don't know if I want to test this further. But this should be enough of a starting point. Or to ...

XnView MP 1.7.2 64-bit (Linux) - Libformat 7.180 (2024-06-04)
OS: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS 64bit (fresh install, not upgraded from 22.04)
Display Server: Wayland
ffmpeg: 6.1.1-3ubuntu5
