Yes even with a only 4-5 photos in a directory it still freezes for 4-5s. What's interesting is that I've mapped keys to tag & untag an photos as important (I'm going through hundreds of photos usually), and when I'm navigating between photos using the arrow keys, and it freezes between them, I can ...

I've updated to 1.8.2 and unfortunately the issue still persists.
