When I select an image it fills the main window.

I have a folder with about 50k images - when selecting an image there is a long delay before it is displayed.
There is also a long delay after selecting the escape key to return to the browser list.

Version 1.8.8 on a Mac Studio M2U/128GB/4TB running MAcOs 15.4.1.


Any thoughts on how to speed ...

It is all fine once the thumbnails are created.

It takes some time to generated them and monitoring the CPU core usage shows many of them idle.

I do not cache the thumbnails and use the embedded ones if they exist.

Can someone explain why it takes so long to display an image after selecting it from a very large set of files?

For example, I have a few hundred thousand images in one folder.
When I double click on one it takes quite some time for it to be displayed.
I see the same type of delay after selecting ...
