THanks both - yes the ratings I was able to get that to work with user0 response and agree it probably should be on by default.
If you have it on by default and don't want it - there could be a hover message that says "Settings>Browser>Toolbar>[x] Ratings to disable"

Not sure how it would look with ...

I just updated to 1.65

Sample - top LEFT is marked with CTRL-5 (5 star)

When I click on filter by (browser) there is no star option:

Filter by Rating v. Labels

There are two core methods of marking pictures (excluding tagging) - rating (1-5) and Label (e.g. Important/Later).

I am lost. I marked a slew of documents CTRL-5 (5 star) and then I go to filter and --- no ratings. Cannot believe I didn't think to test that.

This is what the actual frame will look like. Right now I don't have it ALWAYS ON TOP. My resolution is 1600x1200 so most of my apps are on the screen and on the top right is the picture viewer ...

So you want the slideshow of xnview but not 'always on the top', right?

Almost but not exactly.

I looked at the slideshow and some of the basic functionality is what is required. Like file and picture selection. Plus extra options on sizing; time to change; random or by sequence; picture frame ...

Desktop Picture Frame

I have been looking for a really good Windows Desktop picture frame program. So far I am using the Yahoo Widget Picture frame app.
It's failing is that it will not read the JPEG tags and thus not automatically adjust the orientation of the picture (as XnView obviously does).

What I would love to ...
