Sorry - no, it isn't really that it is slower to startup . It is also slower to load an image and to load the thumbnails if I go to another directory when it is already running. I just mentioned startup because it is also noticeably faster if I minimise it when I startup.

Speed: XnView on Linux vs. Windows

On Linux I find if I start MP and minimise the window straight away, it takes about 3-4 times as long to load a directory with a lot of files with embedded thumbnails as Windows Xnview does under Wine.
If I don't minimise it then it takes about 50% longer to load than if I do minimise it, so it ...

I only use the Linux xnview, so maybe this feature is already present in the Windows version - I don't know.
But it would be really useful if you could set a fixed aspect ratio for the selection tool in xnview, for cropping photos to a standard shape, particularly since most other programs can't do ...

"use embedded thumbnails" does not work in Linux X

I am using xnview in various versions of Puppy and grafpup linux.
I find that the option to use embedded thumbnails doesn't work.
When I turn this setting on, it still reads the file and creates new thumbnails as usual. I tested by using a file with an incorrect thumbnail.

Does Xnview on Linux use ...
