Just some feedback based on the above discussions.
Windows 10 x64 version 2004.
I could not open .heic files in XnView MP.
I installed the HEVC Video Extensions from the Microsoft Store (I had to pay for these - C$1.29). It was not sufficient to only have the HEIF Image Extensions installed ...

Mouse back/forward buttons in browser
When in the browser, it'd be really useful if the back/forward mouse buttons (the buttons on the sides of some mice) could activate the Back and Forward functions like they do in most web browsers.
i.e. the Back button would take you to last folder you were viewing, just as the Back toolbar button ...

Mouse "back" button in Browser
I think it would be great if, in the XnView browser, the "Back" button on the mouse (pretty common now, I think) would go up in the folder hierarchy. Essentially, connecting the "back" button on the mouse to the folder hierarchy "Up" button (i.e. parent folder).
