Re: Help file

Okay, I will. But not for a while. I have to re-assemble and update the files from 5/6/7 years ago (when I took the first shot at this project), build the new deliverables, and then see what we need and are missing. I'll get back to you. Other folks who'd like to help please post your name here also.

Re: Help file

Hey John Fred... okay. It's no problem for me to create a CHM and even keep it updated. The (minor) problem is: where do I send or place the latest version so that it is automatically included in the latest installation build by Pierre or whoever builds the installation program? Thanks for the input...

Re: Help file

I found all my old files, and will work on reconstructing the old documentation. Then we'll move forward. Please be thinking about how I'm going to post (ftp?) files to a server somewhere, and then you'll link to the doc "home page" on the XnView help menu. Also: do you want to have BOTH on-line fil...

Re: Help file

Hello Pierre, Helmut & other old-timers... Well, it's been five years since {we} decided to change from "normal" documentation to the wiki. The idea was that people would and could contribute to the wiki, and the doc would grow and improve over time. However, that's seems NOT to have happened. Is th...

Re: Border

Drahken, I also thought that $50 was a ridiculous price for a screen saver. Now I've tried it, and I'm not so sure! I've used many screen savers, and Snagit has all the features I've ever seen plus many that I haven't. It includes a very nice image editor, supports irregular shaped captures, transpa...

Re: Border

Well, thanks to your suggestion, I have tried it now. It works beautifully, perfectly, is exactly what I wanted--but it is an extra step that involves loading a separate program. It's probably too late now, but have you thought about making XnView and XnConvert simply different "modes" of the same p...

Re: Border

I have recently been using a trial version of a screen capture program called "Snagit." ("Snag" is a slang English term that means "grab" or "take.") This program offers a border-addition option, and it does a very nice job of it. So if Pierre decides to add the border option, you might want to chec...

Re: Border

Thanks, XnTriq. It's nice to know that my idea is not completely off-base. At least not this one.

Border

Suggestion: border On the "Image" menu, a new option called "Add border." When clicked on, it shows (a) color of border, and (b) width of border in pixels, and allows the user to change them. These values both default to something, and once the user changes them, they stay that value. (I don't think...

Slice

Suggestion: "Slice" Before executing this operation, the user creates a selection area that goes from one edge (horizontal or vertical) to the opposite edge. When the user clicks on "slice," what happens is: a. the selected area is deleted b. the remaining areas are moved "together" c. the image is ...

Re: Adding custom "Selection size/ratio" items

I would like to also request some means to (a) save more than one custom ratio, and (b) save them between sessions. I frequently need to take images of all different sizes and crop them to a specific ratio for, for example, printing on a greeting card. I have several sizes of card, and it would be v...

Scanning

I know that the forums are mostly to discuss problems and complaints and bugs and features requests, but... .... I just want to say how GREAT and EXCELLENT and OUTSTANDING XnView's scanning interface is. I've used many different imaging programs for scanning over the years, most recently Picasa and ...

Re: Fuzzy Thumbnails

Hi Marsh--I'm sure you're right, but how do you know this? Is there something on the screen that says "embedded?" And in any case, what are embedded thumbnails? Although I made sure that the embedded option was OFF for both XnView/Win and XnView/MP, XnView apparently does not refresh automatically w...

Re: Fuzzy Thumbnails

Hi Helmut-- Thanks for the suggestion. I had already checked all the visual settings I can think of, including "sharpen." Since you haven't heard of this problem before, it must be something about my particular situation. So please don't spend any more time worrying about it. But I will show you wha...

Re: AVI Movie Conversion

Pierre, it seems I was mis-reading the results. I had very short movies without enough movement, so it looked like the frame did not change. But it did, and XnView works fine. Thank you!
