Re: Error saving PNG

HI cday and XnTriq, thanks for the replies. No, cday, I can't confirm that this is a Win 8.1 problem; that's the only environment I have. I did discover that the problem seems to be related to some characteristics of the original file. In other words, if I open an existing JPG file in XnView and ...

Re: JPG image sizes in preview

Thanks, XnTriq; solved the problem. I would think that the default setting for that setting--Use embedded thumbnail--should be NO / unchecked. What do you think? Seems like it's a source of on-going confusion. Pierre?

Re: RIP JohnFredC

Sad to hear of John's passing. He was a good guy, to be sure. Thanks for the posting and letting me know, XnTriq.

JPG image sizes in preview

This is a long-time bug that I should have reported years ago. And I'm surprised that somebody else hasn't. Perhaps there's some reason for this--I admit I haven't researched the subject/problem.

The problem is that when you change the thumbnail size to very large, the JPG images--only--stay at the ...

Re: Error saving PNG

I've also tested saving to a more conventional directory, such as c:\ashell, and had the same results. So the problem is NOT some weird thing involving OneDrive.

Error saving PNG

Hi Pierre or whomever--

I just downloaded XnView/Win version 2.33 and immediately had a problem that I've never seen before--and I've been using XnView a long time.

When trying to save a newly-scanned image as a .PNG file, I get the message "Error writing the file <C:\Users\OneDrive\Desktop\test3 ...

Re: Help file

Okay, I will. But not for a while. I have to re-assemble and update the files from 5/6/7 years ago (when I took the first shot at this project), build the new deliverables, and then see what we need and are missing. I'll get back to you. Other folks who'd like to help please post your name here also.

Re: Help file

Hey John Fred... okay. It's no problem for me to create a CHM and even keep it updated. The (minor) problem is: where do I send or place the latest version so that it is automatically included in the latest installation build by Pierre or whoever builds the installation program? Thanks for the input ...

Re: Help file

I found all my old files, and will work on reconstructing the old documentation. Then we'll move forward. Please be thinking about how I'm going to post (ftp?) files to a server somewhere, and then you'll link to the doc "home page" on the XnView help menu. Also: do you want to have BOTH on-line ...

Re: Help file

Hello Pierre, Helmut & other old-timers...

Well, it's been five years since {we} decided to change from "normal" documentation to the wiki. The idea was that people would and could contribute to the wiki, and the doc would grow and improve over time.

However, that's seems NOT to have happened. Is ...

Re: Border

Drahken, I also thought that $50 was a ridiculous price for a screen saver. Now I've tried it, and I'm not so sure! I've used many screen savers, and Snagit has all the features I've ever seen plus many that I haven't. It includes a very nice image editor, supports irregular shaped captures ...

Re: Border

Well, thanks to your suggestion, I have tried it now. It works beautifully, perfectly, is exactly what I wanted--but it is an extra step that involves loading a separate program.

It's probably too late now, but have you thought about making XnView and XnConvert simply different "modes" of the same ...

Re: Border

I have recently been using a trial version of a screen capture program called "Snagit." ("Snag" is a slang English term that means "grab" or "take.") This program offers a border-addition option, and it does a very nice job of it. So if Pierre decides to add the border option, you might want to ...

Border

Suggestion: border

On the "Image" menu, a new option called "Add border."

When clicked on, it shows (a) color of border, and (b) width of border in pixels, and allows the user to change them. These values both default to something, and once the user changes them, they stay that value. (I don't ...
