Hello All!
My latest foray into the American West has resulted in some very large (>100Mb) panoramas. XnView Classic and MP both have difficulty making thumbs and displaying these images.

Re: Save a specific layout
Perhaps the concept of a "View" or "Workspace" or "Project" would be useful to implement in MP.
Options + Database + Layouts + Themes + Filters + Sorting + Open Images, etc.
XnView can be used for so many different things, but getting from one configuration (full interface useful for managing ...

Re: Please add separate catagories tab to info group
Hi m.Th.
It's very simple:
All I am asking is that some sort of category assignment panel be allowed to dock inside the Info group . That way the user can toggle visibility of ALL the metadata panels (including categories) with the one toolbar "Info visibility" button.

Hi m.Th.
I disagree with almost all of your points and was going to address them individually but life beckons instead.
That's why all the other DAMs (including Zoner :) ) - Lightroom, AfterShotPro, IDImager, PhotoSupreme, ACDSee have the Keywords/Categories pane separated from the Info pane ...

Re: Please add separate catagories tab to info group
Hi Orbspider
Sorry to come on so strong. It is just frustrating to have to revisit issues I thought long resolved. Feels like starting over.
MP has been making good strides toward correct UI design/behavior. This new approach to categories is a step off that path.

Re: Please add separate catagories tab to info group
My request is for an additional panel specific to the Info container , not parallel to it.
Notice in your example that the categories tab is a peer of the Info tab, not a subordinate to it. This violates the logical structure of the image metadata. Categories are metadata peers of the IPTC, EXIF ...

Please add separate catagories tab to info group
Please consider adding an additional ability to see the assigned categories for a selected image in a tab of the info panel. Ideally, I would use such a panel to assign categories as well as view them.

Re: Tagging JPEG creates xmp-sidecar
(Didn't know there are so many sidecar formats! :? )
So, in addition to reading "strange" sidecar formats, it might be useful to "merge/consolidate sidecars" to a particular sidecar file/format chosen by the user.
Perhaps XnView could even allow the user to select which sidecar format is the ...

Re: List of missing features (compared to XnView Classic)
the compare view currently does not allow for viewing more than four pictures at a time (tested on Ver. 0.64) even if more pictures are selected.
I understand.

Though it has a long way to go 'til a full implementation of compare, nevertheless the MP compare mode is much improved over the one in Classic XnView.

MP is in beta. Features haven't been "removed", they just haven't been added yet.confona wrote:Removing features that attracted users is not the way to go about improving on an app.
... and in many respects MP IS better than Classic already. You should explore it a bit more.
