Re: Deleting files in fullscreen mode deleted all folders!
So let me rephrase: You only worked in folder 2013 (let's say) and you deleted the entire folder?
To Pierre: Perhaps the arrows inadvertently fall on '..' folder?
I have a folder structure like this:
Pictures
->2006
->2007
.
.
.
->2013
->2014
I worked in "2014". And every folder below ...

Re: Deleting files in fullscreen mode deleted all folders!
Yes, I got from broser to full screen with F11. Then I tried to use the arrow keys to switch between the pictures. As I realised that it doesn't work (didn't see the option in the preferences), I proceeded by clicking with the mouse on the arrow symbols. I deleted some of the pictures, and suddenly ...

Re: Deleting files in fullscreen mode deleted all folders!
Well, thank you, of course I did all the steps already
. What I won't definitely try is to delete again when in fullscreen mode...

Deleting files in fullscreen mode deleted all folders!
I got a serious problem. While viewing pictures in fullscreen mode, I deleted unwanted pictures by pressing "Del". In the background, XnView deleted not only the pictures, but all pictures in the pictures folders. It seems that the focus of the cursor changed in the background while I was viewing ...

Re: Tagging JPEG creates xmp-sidecar
1. Metadata placement
We need two options: embedded and sidecar regardless of file type.
I think that this is solved & summed up in Pierre's post here:
Currently if export is enabled, jpeg/png files are updated, and not for other
But if i add sidecar support, they will be
So like that ...

Re: Tagging JPEG creates xmp-sidecar
I would like to sum up this thread a little bit because it get's confusing.
1. The initial request was to prevent XMP-sidecars from being written for JPG and TIF. I guess this could be done by a simple "if" statement before the writing process.
2. The second request was to have an option to ...

Re: Tagging JPEG creates xmp-sidecar
If both image and sidecar file have been modified since the DB date, and XnView detects a certain item has been modified differently in both sources, then this is beyond any automatic assumption of priority and XnView should ideally pop up some window prompting manual choice.
This becomes even ...

No, it doesn't. it is planned for the future, but it seems to be unlikely that it will be in the near future...m.Th. wrote: ...also, looking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible ... a_Platform I see that RawTherapee supports XMP.

Re: Tagging JPEG creates xmp-sidecar
These programs (I didn't work too much with RawTherapee and I didn't saw at all SilkyPix) doesn't support XMP standard?
No, they don't, nor does Rawtherapee. Rawtherapee produces a sidecar in the form "abc.orf.pp3" next to abc.orf, Silkypix produces a sidecar "abc.orf.5.spd" in a subfolder ...

Re: Tagging JPEG creates xmp-sidecar
And by the way: To have an option to handle other sidecars as well (like pp3 from Rawtherapee), i.e. that they will be moved, deleted, copied when the raw is moved, deleted, copied, would be grate!

hic

Re: Tagging JPEG creates xmp-sidecar
Ideally, the metadata handling would be as follows (IMHO):
Jpg, Tif, PNG, DNG: Changes of keywords, ratings etc. are written to the file automatically when something is changed, no xmp-sidecar is created.
Raw files (orf, rw2, cnr etc.): Changes of keywords, ratings etc. are written to a xmp-sidecar ...

Re: Tagging JPEG creates xmp-sidecar
I wonder that nobody before recognized this behaviour. My question was if that is intended, I now know it is not :wink:
How do others assure that the metadata of the database and the files are synchronized?
