Re: [1.01 + 1.02] Stops working after video thumbnail selection
XnView locks during video thumbnail creation?
No, I would not say during thumbnail creation. It is really a very strange situation:
As said, I was upgrading from 1.0. So I had all thumbnails already created.
Now when I open 1.02/1.01 I can see the browser like normal. All thumbnails are ...

[1.01 + 1.02] GUI stops working after video file selection
With 1.0 it was working fine.
After upgrade from 1.0 to 1.02 and also trying 1.01, selecting of video thumbnails in Browser does not work anymore.
I can normally select folders and pictures. But not video thumbnails. The don't get marked, categories don't load and XnviewMP stops working (no more ...

0.99.7: Quick Search is case sensitive on categories
I don't think this is how it should be:
Search with Quick Search is not case sensitive on file names but it is case sensitive on category names.
So a search for 'wedding' finds 'wedding', 'Wedding' and WEDDING when it is in a filename, but it does not find it when name of the assigned category is ...

Albums
Can the album tree have collapsible sub items?
Currently imagine having hundreds of albums the tree will become unmanageable.

Re: [0.98.4] Quick search for categories not applying on DB result set
Quick search in folder finds files that have the search string in file name and/or assigned category.
Quick search on DB result finds only files that have the search string in file name.
I don't understand, what's the difference between the 2 quick search?
The difference is on which it is ...

Re: [0.98.4] Quick search for categories not applying on DB result set
I'm not able to reproduce, do you write categories in XMP? sidecar?
This is weird, I have just reproduced it. Categories are only the one from XnviewMP database.

Creation of new categories
Some suggestions for ease creating categories:
1. Add a context item 'New category' so that categories can be created via right click in Explorer view. Currently through right click only existing categories can be assigned.

[0.98.4] Mark All makes assigning of categories impossible
Watch different behavior:
1. Go to a subfolder with many images
2. Select all images with STRG + A
3. Assign a category
Result: Category gets assigned successfully
1. In the Categories Filter pane, select many (sub-) categories, so that also many images get shown.

Is that a problem? From my understanding when a creating thumbnails, the image must be loaded too. So why not combining thumbnailing with hashing?

Re: Albums needed!
Albums are like folders with symlinks to files, where you can keep files together permanently, until the Album is removed/cleared out.
From my understanding the idea of albums is simply an additional category like the root categories shown in the categories filter: Rating, Colour Label, People ...
