This has actually been reported earlier.
See: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=1260
I hope Pierre will have this fixed before the release of next version, if he hasn't already

I must say that Oliviers example describe very well how I can image I would be using this.
First example: I create a 3:2 Landscape selection, move it, set it to "Free", adjust its size... and now, I want to re-use it immediately with the automatic "Use image's orientation" for next images. With [2 ...

Re: Psychology ?
That's a different interpretation. And from LostClown's reaction, I believe that he understood it as [2] as well. And in this version, two sub-menus doesn't make sense as you consider only the current selection.
Olivier, you are absolutly right about my understanding. I'm a [2] person :)

Suggestion #1 - infinite moving of a mouse/image, even if it reaches the edge of the screen
I am not sure I understand you correctly.
Do you mean when dragging image with right mouse button?
Suggestion #2 - numpad hotkeys - 2, 4, 6, 8 for move of an image, 5 for centre - there are already hotkeys ...

The problem here is to decide what is useful for many users and what is useful for a few or only a single user.
Yes and I think it would be very useful for many users, why you think it doesn't?
I believe that Pierre is right that generic replace is more useful than "replace underscore with spaces ...

Combining "File types" and "Assotiations" is a good idea and could make things more simple. But it has implications as Pierre has pointed out. You can disable assotiations by file type or file extension. But you can only disable/enable saving by file type (then there is onle default extension for ...

I don't agree. I use two different file managers for that ("Partially Mixed Case" and "Convert underscore to space") and it's not very comfortable.
I understand your point of view. And I also think it is perfectly normal that we disagree on this. I use a single file rename utility to rename files ...

Re: Thoughts about Categories Management
 The system would be extremely flexible and efficient. It could really become a very powerful tool to manage images
This all sounds very nice.
But "extremely flexible and powerful features" are usually not easy to implement (even for a skilled developer as Pierre).

Do you have something better than "File save types" ? I'm not sure that less confusing...
Funny how simple things can be confusing :)
I really don't have a single idea for the name of this option that I am sure is the best one. When I originally commented on this I also though of just "Save types ...
