Re: Site suggestion: 7-Zip archive downloads

So called "non-expert" users just use the image viewer included in Windows, so I don't see how it's an issue. It would be better to have the option there, the same way VLC offers both zip and 7-zip downloads. What have you got to lose? Oh well, your call.

Site suggestion: 7-Zip archive downloads

Have you considered using 7-Zip to save bandwidth? The ZIP for the current version is 6,466,421 bytes in size. Compressed with 7-Zip, it's only 3,649,712 bytes.

Site suggestion: RSS feed for downloads or news

SourceForge.net provides RSS feeds for the software they host. It's a really convenient alternative to manually checking if software has been updated. I would like to see this feature on the XnView homepage for the download or news sections.

Unicode support please!

Please add Unicode support to XnView. It is currently impossible to work with files whose names are not written using the Latin character set (Windows-1252). For example, if I try to open a file named "パリ.JPG" (Japanese) from Windows Explorer, I get the following error message: http://i32.tinypic.co...

Re: Where's the crop tool?

Well I don't use the default settings. I have images open up in full screen. I can make a selection there, but if I switch to browser mode, then back to full screen, it's impossible to make a selection again. I also use the preview area to view images 95% of the time and it's impossible to make a se...

Re: Where's the crop tool?

Wow. That's so hidden, it's more of an Easter egg than a feature

My settings were already those you described, but I didn't realize you had to press Enter with an image selected before cropping was available.

Thank you :)

Re: Customizable small toolbar and columns in detailview

*The small toolbar PLEASE add this feature! I've got a vertical layout, with the thumbnails on the left side and the small toolbar on top. 'Sort by' is the item I use most often, but it's so far to the right that it's hidden. To show it, I have to resize the thumbnail column. In this case, it'll be...

Where's the crop tool?

Windows Vista x64 SP1 XnView 1.96 There's no crop tool on the Edit menu, like the help file says. There's no crop tool on the toolbar. Ctrl + Y doesn't do anything. I thought it might have to do with the fact that I have the minimal version, but after getting the standard version, there's no differe...

Re: Makes Vista x64 freeze

I got ShellExView, but I didn't use it to make any modifications because all the entries it highlighted were from trusted vendors and I needed them: AVG8 Shell Extension Class (AVG Shell Extension) DesktopContext Class (NVIDIA Display Properties Extension) NVIDIA CPL Extension (NVIDIA Display Proper...

Makes Vista x64 freeze

Hello, I've encountered a major problem on Vista x64 SP1. When XnView is launched by an external program (e.g. Windows Explorer), the whole system freezes. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't do anything and the mouse doesn't move. The only way out is to press the Reset button. The problem to this problem is that ...

Search by aspect ratio (to find wallpaper)

I would love to have the option to search by aspect ratio. It would be very useful to locate 4:3 images to use as wallpaper. For example, I have many awkwardly-sized pictures that resize to the desktop perfectly, but I have no easy way to find them :( I've also noticed that you've added "search, pic...

Keyboard shortcuts: Fit width, fit height

Please add keyboard shortcuts for "Fit image to window width" and "Fit image to window height." I apologize for asking for something that's requested in the sticky, but I am begging you, please, please implement this feature! :( Or custom keyboard shortcuts, that would solve all shortcut requests in...
