Hi,
the fact that this is still listed under "new" probably means the bug has not been addressed.
I have stopped using base path, so have not noticed it.
I guess the way to make search still work is to use "My Computer" as the root of the search - or whatever is the appropriate selection for your ...

Re: Rotation and EXIF Orientation field
do you have some sample files?
They are in the attached zip file two posts above: testcases-badorientation.zip . That longer post also describes conditions for reproducing.

Re: Rotation and EXIF Orientation field
A short(er) summary :
There were not as many orientation bugs as I initially thought, but the important factor is to test all variations of tag and actual orientation .
Some were actual orientation bugs, and some were bugs in the way that XnViewMP generated or used the thumbnail. Because XnViewMP ...

Re: Rotation and EXIF Orientation field
Hi Cameron, I agree with tour recommendation, this is the way I use XnView for the reason you exposed. I wonder if you posted it in the wrong topic?
This one is about a bug where the application forget to reset the orientation tag to 1. I explain how to reproduce.
There is another topic about the ...

Re: Rotation and EXIF Orientation field
No wonder this is hard to get right. I have just spent two days (not full time) accumulating test cases and testing under various conditions.
I ended up with 26 test images, each tested under 4 different option conditions, under 3 different rotation operations. And that is by no means exhaustive ...

Re: 0.84 and 0.85b2 - list details vanish on restart
I just tried a Win10 x64 system and cannot reproduce it with the same folders.
you have the problem on which OS?
Win 10 x64 I cannot reproduce.
Win 7 x64 desktop I can reliably reproduce
Win 7 x64 laptop I can occasionally (maybe 25%) reproduce logged on as me, but cannot reproduce logged on ...

Re: 0.84 and 0.85b2 - list details vanish on restart
so it's always after an IPTC editing?
yes.
are you able to reproduce with lastest version?
Hi Pierre,
the bug still exists in v0.90 x64. But my previous comment about needing to create IPTC is not correct. Now it is misbehaving completely reliably (but I have not tried the other PCs yet ...

Re: Copy/backup catalog info by folder
I guess this is a "all or nothing" decision - use XMP inside the image or in a sidecar?
Or could I write some XMP info into the image file while having other parts being written to the sidecar?

Re: Loading database in order to search
Geoff,
I don't understand why you need to untick the "use db", unless you have not yet scanned all the folders.
Try Settings->catalog->Add Folder and choose your top level folder.
This will add all metadata to the DB (note - nothing to do with the thumbnail db) and it should generally give a faster ...
