After I rename a folder and view files from another folder, I can no longer view files from the first folder.
1. Make sure you can view files from folder "A" and sibling folder "B".
2. In the Folders tree, rename "A" to "A2".
3. View a file from folder B.
4. Click back on A and try to view ...

Menu disappears after viewing an image
I'm on Ubuntu 16.04 and the latest version of XnView MP, 0.88, introduced a regression:
After I view an image from the browser, the menu disappears. It's replaced with the file path.
In the system settings, Appearance -> Behavior, I have Menu visibility = Always displayed.

File size not updated after saving JPG
1. Open a typical 16MP JPEG file, which will by about 5MB in size
2. Select a small portion of it, Shift+X, then Ctrl+S to save.
Notice how in the status bar, the original (large) size is still displayed.

Make it easy to delete keywords rapidly
When importing images, sometimes I encounter images with a lot of spam tags. I haven't found a way to just delete all tags.
So I went to the Edit IPTC dialog:
Can't delete keywords easily.png
The problem here is that there's no shortcut to delete a tag. Pressing Delete doesn't work.

Re: "Updating catalog" is stuck
Update: in the meantime the process finished, even though the progress bar was always stuck at that very beginning position.
So please definitely implement a more granular progress bar, maybe updated every 10 files to not spend too much time on the update itself.

0.84 MacOS: Progress bar "Updating catalog" is stuck
I have a folder with 66,000 files across a few hundred directories. I've deleted the thumbnails cache because the Categories were filled with tag spam that came from images outside that folder I wanted to focus on, and then I selected all that folder's files and directories in Browser, and ran View ...

How can I assign categories from the viewer?
In the Browser, you can assign categories by pressing F9 to focus the Categories panel. But that doesn't work when viewing an image.
If I right click and choose Properties -> Categories, I get a completely useless read-only list of all categories, with checkboxes that can't be checked, and no auto ...

0.84: Creating new file or folder clobbers selection
1. In a folder, select some images.
2. Using another application, create a dummy empty folder within the folder at step 1.
3. Notice how no images are selected now.
I understand XnView receives a notification that there was a filesystem change in the current directory, and that change might affect ...

Re: Tagging (categories)
Yes. This is how gThumb and F-Spot do tag autocompletion, and it's much faster to tag many images with those apps than with XnView MP, using the keyboard.
Already there. Use the Categories Pane (F9 to switch focus from/to it) and write down „vacantion”[enter]„kids”[enter]„2017”[enter]

Tagging currently sucks
I think the tagging system is outdated and should get a major overhaul.

Having both Keywords and Categories is unnecessarily complic
Do we loose [sic] users more than we gain if we change „categories” to „keywords”?

Create a new tab with the mouse
In Chrome, I can create a new tab by clicking with the mouse to the right of the last tab.
In other tab-based application, I can right click on an empty space in the tab strip and choose New Tab. Or double-clicking creates a new tab.

How can I *easily* manage tags, like in F-Stop?
On my Android, I use an awesome app for photo management, F-Stop . It makes it super easy to tag photos (has autocomplete, a list of tags to choose from, when tagging multiple images it suggests tags that already exist in some of the images etc.) and it saves the tags in XMP format within the JPG ...

Can't manage categories from the Properties dialog
I have an image with XMP data written by the excellent Android photo management app F-Stop.

Redirect newsgroup.xnview.com to forum.xnview.com
Looks like the two URLs point to the same content, but it would be less confusing and an SEO advantage to redirect one to the other.
I.e. going to newsgroup.xnview.com should to redirect the user to forum.xnview.com.
