By "Type" is what I found after a fresh install, and I never use the Browser function. :?

1.95.4 has the default at sorting by image Type, whereas sorting by Name would be the more instinctive first choice. :?

For what it's worth, I find that sorting either by Name or Name(numeric) or Date or Extension works great. Even by EXIF in a folder full of .png's works okay.

By George, you’re right.

Just a couple of hours ago I was in a folder with many images, and clicking Next brought on a “hang” of about 30 seconds. After reading about your solution, I went back to that folder, remembering exactly where I was earlier, and when I clicked Next XnView instantly went ...

Success!

Per Pierre’s link, I did the registry fix (removed the “- slide” part). Now “ Open With ” works normally.

The bug remains, however, as that registry value was/is written during an install of 1.95.4.

By the way, when it was said that I put off installing XnView because of the problems, I meant no ...

Please check:

Pierre and Helmut, I''ve got the link bookmarked and will read it again, though I don't think it exactly pertains to my situation. The thing is, I have had fits getting even 1.31 or 1.74 to view properly after a fresh install, and ...

This problem is supposed to be solved in 1.95 (and even before). So currently it's unclear why the problem persists.
Well 1.95 doesn't exactly fix the faulty registry value (It's actually Windows that writes it in the first place) it just prevents Windows from writing the wrong value in the ...

Win 9x and 1.95.4 - 'Open with' goes to full screen

Doing a fresh install of XnView 1.95.4 in Windows ME. In My Pictures, (or any other folder, for that matter), a right click on an image to Open With XnView sends it to a full screen, and it acts like a slideshow, going from image to image at approximately 4 or 5 seconds. A double left click exits ...

Anybody can make skins....
Maybe that's a problem right there.

Instructions are one thing. Making something that isn't an eyesore is something else.

So you make skins, eh? I applaud anyone who is able.

Yes, my favorite is getting old. I had to make some "home made" buttons for what I've added to the toolbar, for Panorama , Effects , and Resize , and they ain't pretty. :D Luckily I could reverse the Undo button. Oh well, that toolbar I've used ...

If you open a hidden image in a hidden folder, XnView crashes upon loading.

Copy the hidden image to a normally viewable folder and everything's fine, though.

While I'm at it:

If you open an image in a certain folder, resize it or whatever and save to another folder, when you hit Next Image it ...

I think xnview's greatest weakness is it's self-inconsistancy. Xnview is a great program overall, but it's desperately needs to improve it's consistancy.

Yes, I agree, many modes are confusing. There are also different things that seem to be completely off-place and not completed.
I would like ...

Re: Missing something

That worked so I must have asked the wrong question. The original image is 1430x1073X24 and only 71.21 kb to start. What determines the size of the image from the camera? When I change the screen size to 500 and 500 that flattens the image. I guess I'd like to get the correct pixel count but not ...
