Which settings are deleted if Purge 'Most Recently Used Files & Directories' on exit (Tools » Options... » Interface » Interface » Recent lists) is activated, and what gets deleted by executing Purge now?
PS: I'm asking because it might be worth considering to allow users to choose how much of the history is cleared.

Re: Purging MRUs
Thanks!
When are the search-terms in Tools » Search... deleted?
Are the DirName_* entries in both the [File] and the [Start] section removed on exit?

Please take a look at this related topic, Pierre:xnview wrote:never, you think that i should delete them too?
If I'm not mistaken, this feature was introduced mainly due to privacy concerns. So, yes, I think search-terms should be deleted too.AdrianK_IT (Search Function: Filename Drop Down Menu) wrote:Re the search function, have experimented further with that, and I can get the behaviour I desire. From a starting point of not remembering search terms, I launch XnView, deselect 'Purge ... on exit', search terms are then remembered. However, to clear search terms, I have to select 'Purge ... on exit', and then close and relaunch XnView twice! Bizarre!
The 'Purge now' option seems to have no effect whatsoever.
Here's what I meant by “allowing users to choose how much of the history is cleared”:
IMHO, the Purge now button should remove the same INI entries as Purge 'Most Recently Used Files & Directories' on exit.
I'm also suggesting to add a command to the File » Recent files menu for clearing the most recently used files list:
- Fookes NoteTab: File » Reopen » Clear List
- Notepad++: File » Empty Recent Files List
