I can't get the FTP plugin to work though. I extracted it to the addons folder, opened an image, but can't find the ftp option in view mode.
In "View Mode" it is in menu "Filter", in Browser Mode it is under "Tools - Plugins".
Do you don't find the commands or to you see no dialogue or is there no reaction of the dialogue?
HEIC plugin seems not working with 2.49.4. Double clicking an HEIC image only brings up the main interface. Preview still works but it won't open the image

It seems 2.49.5 fixed this bug but one question, what is the b4bit plugin for? It seems there is no 64bit XnView.
It seems the bug was not fully fixed. I cannot double-click an HEIC file to open it, neither can I right click an HEIC file and open with XnView. I have to browse to it and open it inside XnView.

please check your registry entry for heic
Do you mean XnView.ini? There is no HEIC in plugins section. Do I need to add one? How to do this? I just decompressed HEIC zip files in plugins folder.

In XnView, are you able to load a HEIC file?
In XnView browser, yes I can browse to the HEIC file and open it. But if I directly double click the HEIC file in Windows Explorer, it will not open the HEIC file. In stead, it only brings up the XnView browser.
For jpg or other format file I can double click it in Windows Explorer to open it in XnView.

It seems that you have a problem in registry with associations
