:) Hello !

• IMHO, “AlienBZ” might try another location to save his captures…

- The Desktop is a virtual folder, searching for the real physical corresponding directory could be a good idea… 8)

In cases like this, the first step is always to recheck your settings, make sure none got changed by accident. (Maybe the hotkey got changed, maybe the location got changed, etc.)

The second step is to intentionally try other settings, to narrow down the problem. See if saving to a diff folder works, see if a diff hotkey works (it's possible that some update or other program usurped the F10 key), try checking the option to open the images in xnview instead of saving them directly (which would help determine whether the issue is with the actual taking of the shots, or with the saving of the images).

Along the same vein as other progs usurping the hotkey (or keyboard input in general), try making sure that only xnview & whatever you're taking shots of are running. If something else is running, it's possible that that prog is intercepting the keyboard commands. (Flash on webpages does this. If you want pics of flash on a site, you need to make sure to click somewhere "normal" (ie, not-flash) on the page first.)

It's also possible that you somehow locked up your desktop so that xnview can't write files to it, or overfilled it. A simple solution would be to create a folder elsewhere, then just put a shortcut to that folder on your desktop.

re updating/reinstalling xnview: If the problem lies in xnview's settings, that won't fix anything. Go into xnview's options & make sure it isn't saving settings to the registry, then go to the xnview folder, fine the xnview.ini file & rename it, then open xnview & try taking screens.
