"AFPL Ghostscript is not found on your system" message

Post by dma_k » Thu Oct 20, 2011 11:46 am

I have installed GS 9.04 from official distro.

Registry values:

Code: Select all

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GPL Ghostscript\9.04]
"GS_DLL"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin\\gsdll32.dll"
"GS_LIB"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\lib;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\fonts"
Directory contents:

Code: Select all

C:\Programs\GnuWin32\Install>dir C:\Programs\GnuWin32\bin\gs*

Directory of C:\Programs\GnuWin32\bin

05-08-2011  14:04        14.639.104 gsdll32.dll
05-08-2011  14:04             8.014 gsdll32.lib
05-08-2011  14:04           147.456 gswin32.exe
05-08-2011  14:04           139.264 gswin32c.exe
Result:
  • When clicking on PDF file, the preview displays the PDF binary contents.
  • When navigating to next file (e.g. using the toolbar) in image view tab and the next file is PDF, the "AFPL Ghostscript is not found on your system" message is displayed. I think, this is not in line with behaviour in with previous point: clicking on PDF should also produce this warning message.
  • When navigating to next file again, no warning messages are displayed (I have not ticked "Do not show this message again").
P.S. I think, numbered lists (
    ) are not working on this forum...

    :) Hello !

    • About the list markers :

    Code: Select all

• Works perfectly :P

    Sorry, forgot to mention: v1.98.2.

    How to further debug the problem? I just though that maybe it's good idea to scan the whole drive for gsdll32.dll: maybe there is another DLL version, which is present in PATH that interferes with one pointed from registry?

    Strange, but latest release 1.98.5 does not want to catch GS...

    I have cleaned up registry keys and added them again (I am running x64 Win7):

    Code: Select all

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GPL Ghostscript\9.02]
    "GS_DLL"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin\\gsdll32.dll"
    "GS_LIB"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\lib;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\fonts"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AFPL Ghostscript\9.02]
    "GS_DLL"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin\\gsdll32.dll"
    "GS_LIB"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\lib;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\fonts"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GPL Ghostscript\9.02]
    "GS_DLL"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin\\gsdll32.dll"
    "GS_LIB"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\lib;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\fonts"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\AFPL Ghostscript\9.02]
    "GS_DLL"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin\\gsdll32.dll"
    "GS_LIB"="C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\lib;C:\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\fonts"

    gsdll32.dll exists at specified location:

    Code: Select all

    C:\>dir C:\Programs\GnuWin32\bin\gsdll32.dll

    05/08/2011  13:04        14,639,104 gsdll32.dll

    but still PDF preview does not work. Have I missed anything?

    BTW, can xnview read registry keys with resolving the environment variables? E.g.:

    Code: Select all

    "GS_DLL"="%SystemDrive%\\Programs\\GnuWin32\\bin\\gsdll32.dll"
