Thanks for the reply there Xnview but I already have the package, what I don't know is how to install it, I extracted the file and read the "install" file but, due to my own Linux ignorence, it made no sense to me at all, however I'm determined to learn about this OS and how to install programs, so any help concerning how to install the package would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards Miykel

It could be little known among beginners that programs can be run from a regular /home/user/whatever directory on linux. This is a convenient way to test a beta before venturing into installation.
- Extract tgz archive into a directory of your choice. This can be done with archive managers including file-roller, squeeze, or from command line running 'tar -xvpzf'.
- Enter into program directory where it can be run several ways depending on how your OS is configured:
-- From a file manager like thunar or others: right click + execute at context menu upon the file named 'xnview.sh'.
-- Or open terminal and type 'sh xnview.sh' or './xnview.sh'
If you want to install a deb package into the OS, then fellow users have reported doing this in following topic:
How to create xnview deb package for Ubuntu
Good luck.
