Trying to open a .VGA file?

Post by captainxenu » Tue Jan 15, 2013 12:16 pm

I've been trying to open up a file that came with an old DOS game, ET's Rugby League, and it is has a .VGA file extension. I am assuming that it is an image file, because it is named in regards to one of the graphical elements within the game, along with a number of other files. All have something to do with something represented graphically. When viewing properties, it says the type of file is a DCX Image (.VGA). I've trying opening the file in XnView with both the original file extension and changing it to .DCX, but it does not open with either.

It always comes up with this error:

Any chance there is some way I could open the file and view the content with XnView, or could this just be a custom format that the game developers used and there isn't a way to open it? I've included a few of the files in a .7z in the attachment if anyone wants to take a stab at it. The files should contain graphics showing the title screen, the ball, referee and the pointers used in the menu.

Any idea? Thanks.

those files are raw 4 bit images
