Batch convert 1st frame of mp4 to jpg

Post by pandaman_fr » Tue May 14, 2019 8:41 pm

hi all
i'm in a bit of a pickle. bought a panasonic lumix camera, accidentally left the settings on 4k blahblahs, which resulted in the camera taking burst shots instead of standard photos, which were saved as mp4s. so now i have a thousand mp4s, lasting 1 or 2 seconds of my family vacation in paris.

i was wondering if xnview could be set to take the first frame of each mp4 in a folder, save it as a jpg. i dont need to do any editing, fixing or cropping, i just want them to be jpg's so that i can share them with my elderly parents who are less tech savvy than me :D

i'm a complete noob, so i'll need a bit of hand holding. i could "manually" go to every single one of the 1000+ pics i took, and click 4 times on the camera touch screen to save 1 image. i tried about 20 of them earlier, it took a really long time. looking for any smart solutions.

thanks in advance for your help and patience.
