I just discovered XnView MP, which seems to have a lot (maybe all!) of the things I had wished for in Classic.
For what reason(s) would somebody use Classic instead of MP? I ask in all seriousness.
Thanks!
Reasons for using Classic rather than XnView MP?

Re: Dumb question
The main reason in practice is probably that they have been using it for sometime, and are familiar with it...
For new users XnView MP would normally be the better choice, with an attractive new interface, full support for Unicode and availability of a 64-bit version. It is also under active development with a feature set that now generally equals that of Classic, greatly enhanced browser image management features, and is cross-platform for anyone who might wish to move from Windows 10...

Re: Reasons for using Classic rather than XnView MP?
Thank you cday for the answer! I was afraid there was some huge downside that I was unaware of.
I too hate changing tools once I've used one for years and gotten familiar with all its nooks and crannies. In this case, I used IrfanView for many years but went looking for something free, fast, and with much better features for organizing lots of photos. I had no big investment of time in Classic and am grateful for having discovered MP early on.
Cheers!

If there is a caveat it would be that the enhanced image management tools in the browser in particular are still under active development, so it would be wise to follow normal good practice and ensure that important files and databases are backed up.
The location of the databases used can be found at Tools > Settings... > Integration.
