RC6: MDI does not work with folder tabs
Even if many people don't know and don't care, XnView is an MDI application (Multiple Document Interface). This means that one should be able to work with one or multiple child windows. Normally these child windows are all maximized and thus have all the size of the main window.
When setting a child window to normal state, MDI still works. But when using one of the folder tabs, all child windows are maximized, again. This means that when using folder tabs, MDI does not work properly. Bug.

Absolutely agree, and IMHO tabs are the better choice.Olive wrote:... tabs are precisely an alternative to MDI for managing several files within a single window.
I personally don't use the MDI abilities of xnView, and like I could see from other threads many people didn't even know about the MDI abilities.
XnView could get a little smaller and perhaps a little faster, if Pierre could remove all the MDI stuff.
Would a poll about this make sense?

I hope my posts were not off-topic, but I don't think I'm seeing this effect.Olive wrote: Click one tab then an other and the pics will be displayed in maximized windows...
I cascaded my windows and chose between them using tabs, with no maximizing effect.
I opened new windows from browser. Selected many tabs. Again, no maximizing effect.
Perhaps this depends on options selected?

No problem here
All
Hello!
- I tested that with Win 98 SE, and it's the same than @ marsh's for me;
• Open three pics successively,
• Click "Tile"
• Click "Tile Vertical",
- When I click on any tab, the corresponding child-window gets the focus, and keeps its size, even when adjusted smaller by hand (I did for the three)
• Minimize all, then restore all :
- All windows recover their previous sizes; clicking again on the tabs doesn't cause any maximized window…

Re: No problem here
Curious... And what happens if then you click an other tab then an other again? I'll invariably end up with a maximized view of the focused tab.Clo wrote: - When I click on any tab, the corresponding child-window gets the focus, and keeps its size
[Edit] Basically:
0. "options>view>maximize view when open" is unchecked. the browser child window is not maximized.
1. open pic --> tab 1
2. open pic --> tab 2
3. open pic --> tab 3
>Tab 3 is focused - child window 3 *is not* maximized<
4. click tab 2
>Tab 2 is focused - child window 2 *is not* maximized<
5. click tab 1
>Tab 1 is focused - child window 1 *is* maximized<
