RC7: Crash with DivX 6.0

Post by ckit »

This fix can be postphoned if need be.

1. In XnView, Browser mode (thumbnails mode)
2. Enter a folder with a AVI encoded with DivX 6
3. XnView crashes while trying to create a thumbnail for the AVI

However, if I were to right-click on the file from my file manager and SendTo -> XnView there is no crash and XnView plays it fine.

XnView 1.80 <x>

No, sorry I don't have a link.
Instead I've emailed you a sample, you will need DivX 6.0 installed for this.

To re-produce the bug, you need to load a DivX 5 AVI into VirtualDub and convert it to DivX 6 AVI, then try viewing the clip in XnView 1.80 RC7.

I can give exact steps for this if needed.
I can also produce the Dr Watson log that was created by the crash.

Now that I know it only affects DivX 6 AVI files, this bug can postphoned until XnView 1.81 or 1.82 goes into testing. For a short time there I thought it may have affected all AVI's in XnView.

Sometimes I have such crashes with other video files. For example, today xnveiw crashed making thumbnail for DivX 3 file.

I said "other video files" because I don't note on which files xnview crashes, now I can say that it crashes on same files.

OK. Be ready for 15,2 MB.
BTW, this is very interesting short cartoon of russian animation studio (with no word in russian) about little caterpillar and Gagarin - first russian astronaut. If you watch it, you'll understand what I mean.

I can upload the file to rapidshare.de free hosting, send it to you by ICQ or e-mail or upload it to your ftp host.
