B2: English wording issues

Post by helmut »

Fine tuning the language is more or less a matter of the release candidates, but it should start as soon as possible.

Some wording issues in Beta 2:

- DB info
Options > Thumbnails > Icon Info
"DB info" should become "Database information" (No abbreviations should be used.) I wonder whether the user really cares whether this info is stored in a database or not. Perhaps "Extra info" or "User info" would be better.

- Export wizard
File > Export...
Title "Export wizard" should become just "Export". (The user does not care whether this is a wizard or not.

- Do you want to save this file?
The title of the message box "Do you want to save this file?" is far too long. It should be something like "Save file" or "Save changed file".

- Apply to all changed images
In the new message box for saving images there is a checkbox "Apply to all changed images". For further reusing and unification I think the label should be changed to "Apply to all images" or "Apply to all".

- Compare picture
The title of the window for comparing images (Tools > Compare...) says "Compare picture". Throughout XnView we use the term "Image" and it's at least two images that are compared. So I think this should say "Compare images" or just "Compare".

Comments and additions are welcome.

Please note that this topic is intended for issues in the English translation, only.
