Automatically recreate the thumbnail after lossless crop
Automatically recreate the thumbnail after lossless crop, not only after lossless rotate.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Not updating the thumbnail might be even embarrassing depending on the stuff that was cut off. An example: http://graphicssoft.about.com/b/2003/07 ... -blame.htm

Also an option to rotate thumnail so that it matches the full image, currently I have to edit in GIMP and save thumbnail.

+3. I often forget it and later wonder that I did not yet process the pics of the folder but it's only the preview that's old...
Sorry, I don't get this - what do you mean? What's different to XnView's build-in function (go to browser, select all JPG and Edit - Metadata - Recreate Thumbnail)?jaqian wrote:Also an option to rotate thumnail so that it matches the full image, currently I have to edit in GIMP and save thumbnail.
In the XnView Wiki, you can improve the user guide / documentation / F1-help for XnView (classic/Windows) and for XnViewMP

Re: Automatically recreate the thumbnail after lossless crop
You are right, actually embedded thumbnails are rotated automatically when using lossless rotate in browser here - not like lossless crop! So even recreating the thumbnail is not needed in that case.

Should be added/changed in 1.97 beta 1, but...
...Embedded thumbnail is not recreated?
Moved to "1.97 Testing - Feedback".

Re: Automatically recreate the thumbnail after lossless crop
Strange, I tried with cache enabled and disabled, manually rebuild thumbnails... Still the same. When using non-lossless crop, it's OK.
Anyone else?

Re: Automatically recreate the thumbnail after lossless crop
Update: Yes, I do have similar issues as Dreamer Cropping once does all the job, then again updates only EXIF thumbails but keeps old XnView-Cache-Thumbnail, then again updates XnView-Cache-Thumbnail but not the EXIF-thumbnail. It's the same image (I made some clones) so the image content can't be the reason. I can't find a rule for the behaviour. It happens with shortcut nd Menu entry, "Backup option for lossless operation" enabled or disabled.xnview wrote:For me, the embedded thumbnail is re-created...

Re: Automatically recreate the thumbnail after lossless crop
OK, so it looks, it works always one step behind.
- original image is 1600x1600 (just for example)
- lossless crop to 800x800
= embedded thumbnail is the same as 1600x1600
- now crop it again to 400x400
= embedded thumbnail is now the same as 800x800 image
- crop it again to 200x200
= embedded thumbnail is the same as 400x400 image
Tested with cache disabled in beta 2, on Win Vista.

It works fine here. Some kind of read ahead/cache behind issue?Dreamer wrote:OK, so it looks, it works always one step behind.

---edit--
Doh! Dreamer's example confirmed with write>jpg 'rebuild thumb' setting on or off.
