Re: XnViewMP new icon
I think that you should go bold and not kling to the old icon to much. The graphic profile of XnView should be updated to 2010 and I think Thibaud is making a really really great effort in accomplishing this, the latest contributions still breathe XnView.
So everybody, try to think outside the box and dont be too orthodox.

I think it's better. And (sorry) could you try to replace iris with the vortex of original icon?thibaud wrote:four eyelash as requested - (if I understood correctly...)

The last word is definitively for you Pierre.xnview wrote:I like this one, and you?
I do like the freshness of the orange/cyan color theme of the more "realistic" eye which we don't get in the spiral one.
here is a side by side...

I perfectly understand your concern of referencing the original logo...

But if you can, please make the icon for the eye version too. I'll put 2 icons in the package...
Pierre.

Re: XnViewMP new icon
I recommend to start the vertex of the eye in the top right like in the original icon.
Because it looks a little like a worm or parasite actually

Congratulations thibaud, I really like the both icons.thibaud wrote:...I do like the freshness of the orange/cyan color theme of the more "realistic" eye which we don't get in the spiral one.
I like the freshness of the orange/cyan icon too, but why not with a kind of dark blue spiral too inside the iris to keep the old xnview icon spirit ?

Re: XnViewMP new icon
I can't help it: IMO the “corners” of the eye and the three spikes didn't go together too well. Adding a fourth eyelash surprisingly gives the logo a more balanced look.
Would you make us a few simple wallpapers SVP, so we can make ourselves acquainted with XnView's new identity?
Sounds like a done deal. TOTH, thibaud!xnview wrote:Excelent job

Yup, to my pleasant surprise that fourth nubbin/eyelash does the trick! Looks great!!!
I prefer the swirl to the eyeball...
2thibaud, specifically
Thanks so very much for your patience, perseverance, and contribution. A good result! Hope others agree.

Oh yes, I'm a sucker for detail

- Organic gradients
- Enhanced 3D (beveled outer / grooved inner edge)
- Grainy texture on eye's socket
- Milky translucency of eyeball
- Accents in iris (concentric circles)

Here are my comments...
Finally you improved the design. You see, I hinted to you before to value feedback from users like us as I sensed you felt a blow to your confidence in your first attempts. Pierre is right, it is so much more better that you added 4 eye lashes which better signifies that it is indeed a representation of an eye but also keeps in continuity with the legacy Xnview icon. Sounds like Pierre is quite satisfied too by the looks of it.
Please to remember to make both size max's 256x256 (Windows Vista/7 icon) and 512x512 (Mac icon) of your vectors.. but this is only too easy.
Have you thought about making a simpler look for the 16x16 icon size too?
this is nice, good job on the wallpaper vers. you made;

...the turquoise blue eyeball is just fine but for myself I wanted to see what a red colour eyeball would look like, so I quickly knocked up:

(click on image to enlarge) ... of course if actually done at this size it would look sharper

Thibaud, well done buddy.thibaud wrote: here is a side by side...

Previously, the original title of this thread topic included "website" in the title meaning that the website also was requested with a design makeover too. I couldn't agree with you more. Would be great to see the background surface used on this wallpaper as the main background on a new XnView website. I should make a separate topic on this forum about what a new XnView website could consist of, in terms of layout, colours, fonts and features (HTML, CSS, some javascript in screenshots etc.)thibaud wrote:with such a good feedback, I couldn't resist but do some polishing on the icon...

Re: XnViewMP new icon
Cyan-eye looks better than the red. The red does not look too healthy, like someone did not have enough sleep for a while
