Please consider a stand-alone utility that would create and cache thumb images for MP in the background.
Perhaps the user could designate a root folder on the command line and the daemon would traverse the subfolders.

Re: Request: Thumbing Daemon
I support this request too!
Why?
Because I have a lot of images in subfolders with embedded category-information.
Starting with a empty database there is no categorie-information in XnView visible (categories-tree).
When I now want to select images of a certain categorie,
I must first manualy visit each subfolder to create thumb images (and category-entries).
Maybe it is possible to start such a task within XnView and let it run in the background.

Re: Request: Thumbing Daemon
Resurrecting an old thread - this is possible by choosing your root folder, right-click and choose 'Show all files (recursive)' and leaving XnViewMP overnight to generate them.JohanP wrote:I support this request too!

No more manually visiting each folder...
