During my testing of MP I have learned that the EXIF thumb overlay only appears if the EXIF thumb is used for the MP thumbnail image.
I noticed that, after resizing the MP thumbs, the EXIF thumb overlay icon was no longer visible, even though the EXIF data clearly showed it was present. Apparently, resizing the thumbnail cartouche causes XnView to resample the original file (for the thumbnail image) and, at the same time, hide the overlay icon, even though the EXIF thumb is still in the file.
IMO the EXIF thumb overlay icon should always be present if the file contains an EXIF thumb.
Perhaps an alternate icon could be employed to indicate that the EXIF thumb has been used for the browser thumb image of the file.

Re: Meaning of EXIF thumb overlay
This behavior appears to have changed in 0.34. Now the EXIF thumb overlay icon shows appropriately for all browser thumb sizes.
This is good, IMO.
Thanks, Pierre!

Re: Meaning of EXIF thumb overlay
Nevertheless, the behavior appears to have changed since my original post!
