Hello...
I am running XnView MP 0.35 on Mac OS X 10.6.6 on the first Intel-based Macbook Pro 17"
In the XnView MP Browser I can open RAW images in full resolution, and it sys it will convert to RGB with 8bits. This is fine. However, the quality of the image is not what I expected. First, there appears to be a lot of color noise, areas where I expect detail seen smeared, and when I zoom in there is sort of a parquet pattern.
In Photoshop Elements it opens RAW images first in the Camera RAW window for making adjustments while the image opens. Is there something similar in XnView that can help display or manipulate RAW to get better quality?
Thanks,
Robert.

Re: MP 0.35 Mac: Canon RAW quality
Hi! I would be glad to send a RAW file, but they are 8MB and up. I'm not sure how to get the RAW file to you; I'll let you advise me on that. In the meantime, I attached a PNG screen-shot that illustrates what appears on my screen when I open the same RAW file in MP 0.35 (left) and in PSE9 (right). I used default RAW handling in both programs and zoomed 400%. Quality is pretty subjective, but what I see is a lot of color noise, particularly in front of the subjects face, lots more horizontal and vertical patterns, and the colors are off.
