Before an image with a bit depth greater than 24 bits is opened a warning message is displayed advising that the image will be converted to 8 bits per component. In practice users are sometimes unsure whether the original file opened will be modified, and therefore understandably concerned.
Suggestion: Add to the existing message new text that makes clear that the original file opened will not be modified.

Not entirely easy...
 
 Minimal change would be "This picture will be converted to RGB with 8 bits per pixel, the original file will not be changed."
Possibly clearer and more accurate: "This image will be opened as RGB with 8 bits per pixel, the original file will not be changed."
And ideally the message would start "XnView currently does not support... [this bit depth | color model ] ...
