It displayed the image in 100% zoom unless the image didn't fit the window, in which case it decreased the zoom.
Now it seems I can't make it behave this way anymore. I look at the image size options and their identification is so confusing I have absolutely no idea how several of them are supposed to behave:
- Fit image to window, small only (small what? only when image is small or window is small? what's the working definition of small? what does it do when it's not small?)
- Fit image to window, large only (large what? only when image is large or window is large? what's the working definition of large? what does it do when it's not large?)
- Fit image to window width or height (how is that different from basic Fit image to window?!?)
- When image is smaller than the window
- When image is bigger than the window but smaller than the screen
- When image is bigger than the screen
- Display image in original size, keep window size
- Fit window to image
I believe this simple set of options (3 scenarios, 3 possible behaviors for each) would be clear, avoid ambiguity, and give any user full control over the behavior).
My personnal setup (and I believe this should be the default) would be:
- When image is smaller than the window: Display image in original size, keep window size ( I wouldn't change the window size because maybe we need all the toolbar buttons)
- When image is bigger than the window but smaller than the screen: Fit window to image
- When image is bigger than the screen: Fit image to window
