Change thumbnail background color according to the label color

Post by crazydaz »

Current
Currently background gets different color depending on what format it is (Color based on file format) which is great. Although if user labels an image "Red/Important", background doesn't change. an image only gets a tiny red dot to indicate that image was labeled. The small dot makes it really difficult to see which images where processed and which not. Similar with ratings. Changing Thumnbnail size doesn't change dot/rating color or size.

Suggestion
When the user labels an image with any color, change color of a whole background.
- If user marks it with Red = Background also becomes red.
- If user marks it Orange = Background also becomes orange.

This way it would help to categorize images visually, without needing to rely on Star Rating, Categories or even filtering, as everything would be clearly visible.

Hello,

I resumed this old post because in my opinion the possibility of coloring the thumbnails' background with the same color of labels is a extremely useful feature. I realize that many users would prefer to have only the colored dot and not change the background's color so would it possible to add this feature as a alternative option in menu Settings → Thumbnail → Appearance ? I mean a checkbox that a user can flag or not.

+1
I would not say its deal breaker, but why not.
As far as I know only Lightroom has this functionality.

Suggestion
settings_thumbnils_appearance_add_bg_color.png
  • add 'Use color (from)' setting with options:
    - Rating
    - Label
    - Format
  • rename default 'Background' → 'Base color'
its required when other color source is not available
  • add Opacity setting

Example
  • lightroom
