This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.84 beta 1. Could you please try and confirm the bug fix, Marsu42?

for me it still doesn't not work in 0.84.

the file gets created in the right place, but gets deleted immediately again.

also there seems to be a new issue when loading flif files... they load and are displayed, but after a few seconds xnview comes up with some other pic in the same folder instead.

ok, i was wrong, the files stays there, but gets the same date/time as the original file. don't like that behaviour, but oh well.

Thank you for checking and reporting back, heimaki.

Does this still occur?

Could you please check your settings "Keep original date/time" in Tools » Settinsg | General | File operations and make sure that "File Saving" is unchecked?

yes. but i noticed now it does not always happen!? only on some FLIF files. it's beyond me, i cannot figure out what happens.

uh.... that did the trick. sorry for this, so far i'm a classic xnview user and did not notice this.

Could you perhaps provide a FLIF file that has the problem?

it's even more weird than expected. if i copy the whole folder containing the test pics to another drive, it does NOT happen. at the original path i can reproduce it anytime but only with some of he files..
how is this even possible, jesus.

so providing FLIF files would not help, i'm afraid. probably it's not worth bothering with this strange issue.

/edit: also, if i rename the folder from TESTPICS to something like __TESTPICS or just PICS it does not happen. i might search the registry and check what there is so "special" with that folder called TESTPICS. this folder is located inside the xnview classic prog folder (subfolder).

Perhaps your drive is a removable or external drive? By default, XnView does not cache removable or external disks / drives. Or it may have something to do with the speed of the drive.
Just some thoughts...

sorry, i edited my posting in the meantime.

it sure happens only in exactly that folder TESTPICS. i searched the registry for that name and found some, most of them in

Code: Select all

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ComDlg32\OpenSavePidlMRU\flif
not sure if i should try to remove/rename those and check again.
