XnView MP 0.84 beta 3
In the draw tool, when inserting a shape the mouse cursor is changed to cross hair. After inserting the first shape, you can insert another shape, so the shape should remain "Cross hair".
Setting the shape of the mouse pointer seems pretty much broken.

Fixed in beta 4.
