GPU vs CPU Conversion

Post by Wregger »

Hey, All!
Have searched the Forum for the topic, but failed to find discussions on the subject.
Is there an option (or plans) to utilize GPU instead of CPU?
Multicore option is outstanding! My 8(16) Core AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon 8 Graphics allows to JPG>WebP convert a 1000 batch of 1080p pictures in about 40-45 sec.
But there is a setback — CPU is running at 97-100% (88-92°C) and the system is obviously starting to lag. I can reduce number of Cores used, but that would affect conversion speed. :)

Thank you! 🤝

Hi, GPU Acceleration would be lovely, any information about that ? This app is ok, but when doing huge batch adding or using the GPU could be a great timer saver. I just passed one night converting files because they where su much, and it felt bad that my GPU was not used... I mean even a "little" GPU by today standard could be able to convert dozen if not hundreds files at the same time (We could have a CPU bottleneck with that.)

So, in 2024 still no way to GPU accelerate those operations ?
