Hi,
I am looking for a way of cataloguing my images with structured keywords and thought that XnViewMP's categories would work for me. As a test I created the following category hierarchy:
Places
----UK
--------Oxford
--------Bristol
I was hoping that if I applied the category 'Oxford' to one image and 'Bristol' to another, I could filter on 'UK' to show both the Oxford and Bristol images, but this doesn't appear to be the case. Have I misunderstood the purpose of the hierarchical structure of categories?
BTW, if someone could point me at a good introduction to getting started with XnViewMP I would be grateful.
Thanks
Dave

Re: Using categories
At the Categories Filter you have a dropdown at the top named "Match", where you can select "any" or "both". If you select "any" you'll get shown "Oxford" and "Bristol" images when you select both categories.
Use the control key on "UK" to select it and all sub categories, or use it on "Oxford" and "Bristol" to select that both only.
