Thumbnail size in Browser and Preview

Post by ReefHound »

Not sure if this exists and the board thinks the words in my title are too common to search for...

In the Browser, I don't need or want large thumbnails. I don't need to see fine detail. Just enough to know what the pic is of. And I want to see as many images at once as possible. But in many of the Edit image dialogs there is a Preview option that will show before and after. These need to be as large as possible. It doesn't seem like they will scale up larger than the browser thumbnail. Is there a solution here that I am missing?

Have you tried to resize Edit dialogs? They all are sizable.
Also I doubt they depend on Thumbnail at all.

On the other hand I think Preview functionality is redundant and shall be removed completely as there is 'Apply to image' checkbox.
Once removed 'Apply to image' checkbox shall be renamed to 'Preview'.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Never mind, there are so many options and I somehow got it looking right. I'm not sure how though or what exactly controls the size of images in the browser window.

Originally I had the browser window showing small icons about 12 wide x 8 down but when I opened an image and selected Preview in an Edit dialog, the images were about the same size. Expanding the dialog expanded the image panes but the image itself stayed the same size with black space filling in around. Then I resized thumbnails and rebuilt, resulting in the Preview images being large enough but the browser was showing same size, just 2 wide x 2 down.

What I didn't realize until now is that in the Edit/Preview image panes, I could put the cursor on the image and scroll to zoom in and out.

I'm not sure how Apply to Image replaces the convenience of seeing side by side the effects of a filter or setting versus the original. Since the code is there, how about just not clicking Preview if you don't use it and let those who do keep it?

No, I want it to appear about like user0 showed in the attachment but what I was getting was images about the size of a postage stamp and expanding the dialog was not expanding the image.
