Just tried it, but sorry, still the same problem. Works perfect under X11, crashing on first click on a video file under Wayland.
I'll send you the logs.
the author of MDK is not able to reproduce on Wayland. Do you have tried without
I added export useInternalVideoPlayer=false to _xnview.sh and run it, but that did not make any difference, crash on 1st click on any video file.
But I can play these videos with all other video players, I have on my system (eg. VLC, Dragon, Haruna)

Oh, that worked much better. I get no thumbnails, just the white boxes. But the video plays in the preview pane and opening it, it plays in a tab. Only when I do F11 for full screen, I get a black screen, then sometimes a glimpse of the video, than black again.
But no crashes anymore!
That video mode change is not a video problem. Even when I go full screen on images, my screen gets black, my monitor clicks like changing modes or going to sleep. But after a few seconds, the image is full screen and then I can step through all images and videos in that folder.

OK, that has been a generic KDE on Wayland problem, that other players like VLC also have. After fixing that in KDE settings, Video runs great in XNViewMP.
does prevent the freezing when launching other players (Haruna in my case), but I really rely on seeing the video thumbs, so this isn't a long term solution.

That is an external monitor?
It's my only monitor if that's what you mean.
From what I'm gathering here. FreeSync is for AMD GPUs, and G-Sync is for Nvidia. I'm using the nvidia driver, but somehow it's not supported on my system.
I'll keep reading, but it seems like there is a bug somewhere that someone should address, but hopefully I can find a workaround like you did until they can get it fixed.

Hm, I had that problem on a desktop PC running OpenSuse Tumbleweed with an AMD GPU. My Laptop running Manjaro with an Nvidia 3060 and the proprietary drivers does not have that problem. But that is a fresh installation where I did not try XnviewMP < 1.7.
So I did some digging and it seems this monitor never supported G-Sync or FreeSync, so it appears our problems are different.
I'm glad you were able to get a fix for yourself, but it seems I'll just have to wait. Hopefully your tip can help someone else though.
