Photos of same day, different year

Post by Pepelu »

Hi,

I don't know if this is possible on XnView.

I have an archive of photos of the last 20 years or so. I want to select all the photos taken on a particular day of every year, say, May 8th every year from 2004 to 2023. Is this possible?

If not within XnView, can it be done in some other way or with some other software?

Thanks a lot.

you can use 'Search' dialog

With the search dialog, I can find pictures for one day, in one year. But not all the pictures for one day for multiple years.

Of course, it is possible to go one by one, but it makes thing a little cumbersome.

Thanks anyway.

Search function can work ...
Filename : type *.jpg (if you only search for jpgs , will increase the speed)
Folder : c:\user\me\photos (parent folder for your photos)
Tick only "Recurse through subfolders" ( and perhaps "use catalog" if all your subfolders are shown in settings>catalog table )
Add >> All fields > contains > :09:28 ( for september 28th)

But I assume that all photos with a date or time containing :09:28 will be found...

Add also a space after :09:28
Example
this date will match 2024:09:28 10:28:59
this one will not 2024:09:29 09:28:00
.. but this one also 2024:09:29 09:09:28

Thanks Michel,

That worked. I got a list with all the pictures with those numbers. Mostly it is the date, so it works fine.

It would be great if I could take the list to a browser so I could see the pictures that met the search. But I suppose that may be asking too much. :)

EDIT: Sorry, I've just realised that you can. By hitting the button "Browse..." this is exactly what happens. It opens the browser with all the pictures. :D

Thanks again, this helps a lot.
