I'm new to XnView MP (looking to see if I can find an alternative to IrfanView, to ease a possible migration to Mac ). It's got a LOT of the features I really need and is the closest thing I've found yet to the beloved IrfanView. Well done and thanks for creating a great tool.
One thing I'm struggling with and haven't found an answer to yet is this -
While in the main editing screen, I can hit the 'alt' key plus the first letter (or underlined letter) of the menu bar item (eg, 'alt-I' for Image menu, 'alt-E' for the Edit menu, 'alt-F' for File menu, etc) - that's great! But - the menu entries themselves don't seem to support 'single letter key activation' - eg, the 'File' (alt-F) menu has Save, Save As, Save as copy, Print, etc. I do appreciate that 'Save' can be accessed as Ctrl-S, and 'Save As' can be accessed as Ctrl-Shift-S, and 'Print' can be accessed as Ctrl-P, etc, but - what I am looking for is the ability to hit (eg) 'Alt-F, S' (alt-F to get the File Menu, then 'S' to activate Save), and 'Alt-F, P' - (alt-F to get the file menu, then 'P' to activate Print). I realize this is semi-redundant given the ctrl-(letter) alternatives, but - as a new user, I don't remember the Ctrl-(letter) options, but I do know how to rapidly pull up the menus and hit a letter key.
Currently, I'm simply hitting (eg) Alt-E for 'Edit menu', then hitting 'down arrow' multiple times to reach 'crop', then hitting enter; or, Alt-I for 'Image menu', then hitting 'down arrow' multiple times to reach 'Resize', etc.
In IrfanView, most common menu entries have a letter underlined in their description to support the single letter activation from within the menu IN ADDITION to the 'ctrl-(letter)' associations. I realize XnView is not IrfanView, but was wondering if this is somehow possible, or, something that is on the 'list' for the future.
For reference, this is the IrfanView 'Edit' menu, showing the single-letter key associations that I use all the time (I prefer them to the 'ctrl-(letter)' associations for a variety of reasons).
If not, I'll just have to learn all the 'ctrl-(letter)' associations ... (and shift-, and alt- and ...).
Thanks for reading!
