a lot of features are missing, like image editing, resize ...
Opening Xnview MP first time after the update, I could see taps for Image and even Photoshop Plugins. Opening the program again, this taps were gone.
After updating to version 1.8.3

You are in the file browser, if you want to be in the viewer click (or double-click) on one of the image thumbnails...
If XnView MP 1.8.3 opened in the file browser, and your previous installation opened in the image viewer/editor, you can change the opening mode in Tools > Settings... > General > Startup.
